Why? There are so many up there just wheeling and dealing the next great big cookie cutter opportunity that is going to make us see through the sun. Of course I am being sarcastic with that statement however I know you get the point.

If there is anything that is taught in the network marketing industry, it’s the art of communicating. My question is if the principles on communication worked well for years offline do they not work online as well? I guess most network marketers missed Communication 101 (I admit I did at first).

Recently I’ve been sharing some valuable content on how to market effectively on Facebook. I’ve talked about lead generating, proper etiquette, and more. Today I want to talk about what to say to your new friends via email, wall postings, or chat.

Your mission in asking the following questions is to build a relationship and see where you can help that person. THAT IS IT. DO NOT PITCH YOUR BUSINESS.

Now that I got that off my chest are you ready? Cool let’s get to the good stuff.

1. Are you in network marketing? This helps you to further qualify the prospect. Remember you are only adding friends that appear to be in network marketing because that is your target market.

2. How long have you been in? You are simply making small talk with this question.

3. Are you actively promoting your business? You are still qualifying with this question. You want to find out if this person is a serious builder and needs guidance or if they are treating it like a hobby.

4. Do you currently market online? Listen very carefully to the response you get on this. Most will let you know they have no clue how to market online. That’s a green light for you to drop some knowledge but only a little bit because you don’t want to bombard them.

5. What’s your favorite way to get leads? This question can set you up to learn from them AND also share with them effective marketing strategies. You may get offline or online answers. Whatever the case make sure you listen.

As they ask you more questions you can share more valuable content with them. This approach is 1,000 times more effective than the “I recruit you then build a relationship approach”. Reason being is because you are gaining their trust first and fostering a relationship. So IF they decide to join you in business they are going to stick around.
